Having been an Intel fanboy up until recently, I don't know much about AMD hardware. My question to you guys is, how many more AM4 motherboards will we see? It seems like there is every permutation thinkable in the LGA 1151 range of motherboards, but AM4 is lacking. Is this just because it's such a fresh platform, or do AMD release more "catch all" type motherboards?

Its because it is a newer platform. Wait for ryzen 5 or ryzen 3 and we will probably see more feature-stripped budget boards.

That's good to hear. It's not really about the features, I don't mind them at all. I was just a bit worried to see only 4 micro ATX mobos in my country. I had a look for AM3+ motherboards and they were equally scarce.

I appreciate the quick reply.

yeah the more the platform grows in popularity motherboards will follow. also the release of the low end will probably be when alot of the other lower end motherboards will start to come out.

Release of the low end... CPU's? That makes a lot of sense actually.

Up until now, we've basically just seen the launch boards, which is a motley but rather safe (from the manufacturers' point of view) assortment of mid- to high-end ATX boards. Some motherboard manufacturers have been quite frank about the fact that they wish to dip their toes in the AM4 water to see what market adoption is like before they spend R&D money on more varied offerings, but seeing as the Ryzen7 launch has been quite the commercial success and Ryzen5 is about to hit the market, I suspect they've already decided it's worth the investment.
