Best Drive Encryption Software?

I am looking to encrypt a USB drive and don't know what software to use. People say to use bitlocker but it isn't on my PC and I feel like it isn't the most secure thing in the world. Thanks

I personally use VeraCrypt. It's kind of a spinoff from TrueCrypt, using the same base code. Whether it's the best or not, I don't know, but it works well for me.

For which OS?

Are you going to plug it into other computers? Will they have a different OS? Will you have an admin account to install software?

 

If you want something that will work with all computers you will need to get a hardware encrypted USB with physical buttons to unlock it. If you are only using it on one computer it will depend on the OS.
