But if you look here  - https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface-Book-Intel-Performance/dp/B01M29FJIT

basically MICROSOFT IS THE SELLER AND AMAZON is just a platform.

I want something bit more powerful, at around $2000. Also I believe Microsoft provides 15% ! and even apple does, my brother bought macbookpro here for 15% students discount.

They will only give you a student discount if you buy straight from them, no middle man.

Amazon gets a cut of everything you buy, you should think of Amazon as your local tech store.

Also, that surface book isn't that powerful at all, it is just a dual core CPU and a 965m. A budget gaming 1050 or 1050ti laptop with a quad core would wreck it in raw performance

Im pretty sure it only applies if you buy from Microsoft or dell website where the discount is applied, usually require you to have school domain email.

I don't think so, I don't even think amazon even offer that as they essentially a reseller. How about dell? I pretty sure there have 10% or 5% off, with simple google search i couldn't find any. Lenovo laptop aren't bad too but they not on sale, they were massively discounted during December/January period, i got full spec out Yoga 710 15 for 1000 USD.

hah some of those rumors are insane. There is no way a surface book gets anything better than a 1050ti, heck a 1050ti is even very unlikely at least if they want to cool the GPU or make the base a lot thicker with much better cooling. It will also most likely keep having a crappy ULV CPU, simply because anything better would force them to make the cooling a lot better.

Also you do know that TB3 is a intel tech, right?

Yes I know that, about TB3 but isn't it Intel+Apple made?

Also I never talked about the g-card, at least in my thread which is blurry as you just proved it why.

Wikipedia--

[This copper-based version of the Light Peak concept was co-developed by Apple and Intel. Apple registered Thunderbolt as a trademark, but later transferred the mark to Intel, which held overriding intellectual-property rights.[9]

Thunderbolt was commercially introduced on Apple's 2011 MacBook Pro, using the same Apple-developed connector as Mini DisplayPort, which is electrically identical to DisplayPort, but uses a smaller, non-locking connector. ]

Okay, thanks for clarifying this to me, or I would have never looked and learned about this.

You did mention a GPU in that other post and that some site claimed it to be a gtx 1080...

How much power do you need? The next surface book will maybe be 5-10% better CPU and then maybe 25% on the GPU side, but the CPU will be able to bottleneck the GPU in games that are taxing on the CPU.

And if I can get student's discount on amazon us website, ordering all the way here from India?

I literally think the best laptop on the market right now in terms of price to performance is a 7567 i5 + 1050ti undervolted, overclocked, and DIYed a new screen. It comes to around 900 (if you get a dell discount code + $50 for the new screen). Also I checked with Dell. Replacing the screen only voids the warranty for the screen, rest of your laptop is good.

Laptop Main

(Retired) Zbook 15: i7-6820HQ, M2000M, 32gb, 512gb SSD + 2tb HDD, 4k Dreamcolor

(Retired) Alienware 15 R3: i7-6820HK, GTX1070, 16gb, 512 SSD + 1tb HDD, 1080p

(Retired) T560: i7-6600U, HD520, 16gb, 512gb SSD, 1620p

(Retired) P650RS: i7-6820HK, 1070, 16gb, 512gb + 1tb HDD, 4k Samsung PLS

(Retired) MBP 2012 Retina: i7-3820QM, GT650M, 16gb, 512gb SSD, 1800p

First, availability in India is a big factor for me. Next, I badly want warranty so as to confirm that I won't be in any trouble atleast till my Bachelors study.
