So my rig is pretty outdated. Specs below. I play mostly fps and some odd steam games.
I'm getting really pissed of with the amount of frames i've been getting <60 fps on medium.
I currently run a AMD FX 8320 (Stock), R9 270, 600 W power supply and Asus M5A97 R.20 Motherboard. (Pretty Basic)
I have a Thermaltake Contac 21 Cpu cooler as well, so i can overclock but not sure if motherboard will be able to.

I want some suggestions on some gpu that is cheap (new or second hand), works well with fx 8320 and will increase my fps around another 60+
Not over $150USD as i will be building a new rig in 1.5 years after my degree.

Please and thank you fellow tech dudes

You can likely get an RX470 for that and should give you better performance.

You are wrong. The RX series are completely new GPUs, not rebadged of older cards.

Way off. 270 is GCN 1. 470 is GCN 4. 470 is more than twice as fast as a 270.

He is asking about the best he can get for that amount of money. If he can get "better then previously suggested" for the price, this would mean there is even better used.

You'll be hard pressed to find anything used that's cheaper then the 470 and better.

The lowest I can find OPs current card was $75, and that was a fluke, I normally see them selling at $100. 290's break past the $150 mark and Nvidea gtx 680s see near $100-150.

Unless you are really lucky, the RX series is the way to go.

Also has factory warranty.

What games specifically, and at what resolution?

How important is warranty to you? And I suppose you in the US?

I play csgo, H1z1 and battlefield. Warranty wouldn't matter if its really cheap.
and i live in New Zealand :D.
rx 470 aren't so cheap here.

How much u got to spend in NZD? I don't think importing an item of this price is worth it after tax and such.

I can get a new 1050Ti 250 NZD.

Or a rx 470 for 280nzd.

Can you please check out pricespy.co.nz and check out the graphics cards on their it shows all the nz tech website.

Recommend me a good one please

an rx 470 is better than a 1050ti and is comparable to a 1060, though it is a little slower than the 1060 but it makes up for that pricewise

The only reason I'm here is that I have homework that I don't want to do

It took me half an hour to find where to change my signature :(

I know Tech City in Australia Orders Rx470's because of how cheap they are compared to the used market, but I know NZ is a bit rougher. He's been buying these http://amzn.to/2jrRjjJ however, dunno If that helps you much.

If you can get a R9 290 Used, It is about 75% faster then the 270. The R9 290 is about 10% slower then RX 470. If you can find a GTX 780 it's about on par with the R9 290, but real world experience has shown me that generally the Radeon cards perform better in real life then on paper: A GTX 680 is supposed to be faster then the R9 270, but real world tests show the 680 lagging behind by quite a bit, around 30 FPS in a title such as Overwatch.

Word vomit aside: IF you can get a R9 290 or 390 for less then a RX 470 by a good margin, get those. You can try for a GTX 780 or better as well, but I'm not sure how lucky you're gonna be finding them. Otherwise, just save for a 470.

Works out to be 160usd

yea, very good card

runs very hot and uses lots of power though, just be careful and make sure you have a good psu

also it says 200, id say stay away if its 200 or 220, 160 is good though

I don't understand you people, you can get a 970/290x cheaper than rx470. How can you ever recommend it? I mean they are way faster and cheaper. What's a big deal about used GPUs? If you need warranty, buy EVGA card. I got my 970 for 170 cad and still have 720 days of warranty on it...

EDIT: My only problem with 290/290x is that they were used for mining a lot... So you never know.
