I Need help

Just bought a new asus 1070 less than a week ago it was working fine but now when I play games the graphics start shimmering and flickering followed by a framer ate drop down to 1fps and either a crash or a freeze. Any help is appreciated so I know what's going on. My setup is

 

I5 6500

Msi b150 pc mate

Cx500m psu

8g hyperx fury

Asus gtx 1070

Really? I bought the psu a little over a year ago. If that's what's going on does anybody have suggestions?

i feel like it's a 1070 power draw issue, OP doesn't have this problem when performing normal task only when gaming.

a cx500 even old green should deliver enough wattage

Power off, reseat ram, reseat power connections, update drivers, uninstall/ reinstall video drivers. 

If feel a power issue would cause a more immediate reaction vs a freezing issue.

Try running stress test on both the cpu and gpu. Aida64 and Furmark would be my suggestion

i updated the bios and reinstalled nvidia drivers. reseated my gpu. im going to run a stress test and ill get back to you guys whats happening.

I'm not sure what I should be looking for when running these test. I did the furmark and was stuttering alot only hit max 37 fps at 1080p

so im finding when i run a gpuy heavy game at ultra settings the screen artifacts, shimmers and slows down to about 1 fps and crashes it happened to me on the wticher 3, metro redux, battlefiled 1 and dragon age inquisition. what does this mean ? do i need to get a new graphics card?
