if you overclock it a bit and game at 2560x1440 or higher it will be fine.

Yeah it will, you'll lose out on maybe 10-20fps. You'll still crush at 1080p, and 1440p will be okay but you should look to upgrade that as soon as you can. And of course, overclock it as far as you can.

not at all - this is the worng way around - sort of lol. The CPU is more relevant at lower resolutions as a card such as the 1080ti has very little loading - it will be bottlenecked at 1080P as the cpu won't be able to feed it fast enough. As you move up the resolution more of the load will shift to the GPU. The GPU would be utilised more at 4k than it would at 1080P . So yes 1080P will be fast, but the GPU will be bottlenecked, a lot and not fully utilised.

But - why hell would anyone buy a 1080ti for 1080P in the first place

True, my mistake. No matter what, losing 20fps of like 300 isn't going to hurt :P

Of course it's going to. My 6600k at 4.5GHz can barely power GTAV at ultra settings 1080p 144hz. If you are doing 60hz you should be fine.

For maxing out games at near maximum details on a 120hz screen. They look beautiful and run smooth af ... I have no problem fully utilizing a high-end GPU with a 1080p screen.

but you probably arent using a 3rd gen i5. Also, what high end GPU are you using? The 1080P GPU bottleneck issue only really presented itself in recent titles using 1080 GTX
