I would also like the add that the Dell xps 13 has better specs than the x270. Including i7 instead of i5, bigger resolution screen and a 512gb ssd instead of 256gb.

I wouldn't use the CPU as a tiebreaker here, you're not gonna notice that much of a difference in terms of a slightly higher clock, especially considering you'll probably just be doing work on it.  And as for storage, I guess that's really up to you.  On a small laptop like that, I would be perfectly happy with 256GB, but again, that's me, not you.

Hey LTT forum,

I need to make a decision between these two laptops. I will be using them for programming, web browsing and uni related things. (price is not an issue between them)

The pros for the dell are: The screen, it is slimmer and lighter.

The pros for the thinkpad are: The keyboard and trackpoint, bigger battery, tougher design.

Let me know what you would choose to help me make my decision.

I'd go for the x270.  It's going to be more durable, and have a much better keyboard.  Also TrackPoints beat out any trackpad in my opinion.  And yeah, the battery life is gonna be insane out of the box, plus it's hot-swappable, and you can add a battery slice.  Not to mention, they're easier to service as well.

a ULV i7 and a ULV i5 is basically the same CPU, the difference in performance is so minimal.

The x270 will have better build quality, better keyboard, better battery life and better support (because you get business support), but the xps 13 looks better...

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.
