The i5 though the low end i5's are $160. I'd wait for the R5 Lineup and do misc. jobs and get the 4c/8t 1400

Well, you probably won't be able to get anything but a Pentium for <$100, but that'll be a very slow video editing rig.

Yea that may be a thing to wait for.

How slow we talking because I sleep alot, and I am ok with that because my upload speed is barely 1 MBit. And I use ram disk for recording and editing/will more frequently when I either get a whole new CPU, Motherboard, and RAM. Since I have only 4GB RAM and can max out at 8.

I don't know -- it'd require a bit of research, and I'm watching a show right now and using my phone to do this, but, if I had to guess, even the AMD quad-core Athlons would probably be better for video editing.

See that is what I was thinking about too. Would an older AMD chip be able to do it? And don't worry about it. I do not need instant answer 24/7.

Well, this is what I found:

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2579455/pentium-g3258-amd-860k-video-editing-gaming.html

I'd recommend following the link and watching the videos so that you can make up your own mind, but TL:DR, Pentiums are REALLY bad for video rendering.  There are much better sub-100 dollar CPUs, but maybe not from AMD.  I also believe that the Ryzen 3 processors aren't supposed to get sub-100 because they use the same die as the Ryzen 7s, and that would mean absolutely no profit for AMD from those chips.

If you have a budget for the full system, I will do some more research tomorrow and see if I can get you a PcPartpicker list for a full sytem (unless you're only upgrading CPU, in which case ignore this).

If you can find something for a socket 775 that would be amazing even if it was a 771 socket with a mod to match with my 775 motherboard. And I will watch those thank you.

Assuming that you have a graphics card, the bottom one.  The top one is an APU and is not particularly fantastic for CPU-heavy things. You'll get the same or better value from one of the Athlon X4s because they're just APUs without the GPU, and are therefore cheaper.

Which would be better for a low cost video editing rig. A I3, I5, Pentium, or wait for a 4 core Ryzen cpu? I do not have a set budget, but I couldn't go over 100. And I say that as if I can only do odd jobs to make money.

I'd say wait for R5. If you can't, for your intended use and budget, probably the best you can get is an FX-8300 or similar. Unless you meant $100 for the whole rig, not just the CPU, in which case I'd check used Xeon setups.

Core i5s are great value for gaming, but it won't be so for editing/rendering.

Honestly, anything that would be for the LGA 775 is pretty out-of-date, and you'll be able to find better processors, but, as long as you don't mind used and your current MB supports it, this is about the best you'll get from 775 -->  https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000YQOHM2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489428629&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=core+2+quad+qx9650&dpPl=1&dpID=51%2BiyAHVDaL&ref=plSrch

I would recommend going for something like this, though. Just know that it'll still be very slow. Here's a review of this CPU: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-pentium-g4620-g4560-cpu,4934.html

Well right now since I'm doing only 720p work in rendering out a nine minute video in about 17 minutes so I mean it's not double and I'm using 500 megabyte + files and I was looking for 160 for a whole setup. I have one hour a video and to get all audio tracks it will take handbrake 30+ minutes to split audio tracks and try to preserve as much of the video possible.

The best new CPU for under $100? i3 7100 for $95.

Not worth the price increase over the Pentium G4560.

OP, I'd look at getting a G4560 & a cheap H-series board (Asus H110M-PLUS D3) that supports your existing DDR3 RAM or stretching to DDR4.

I didn't say it was the best price to performance. I simply said it's the best performing new CPU for under $100.

With the way prices look for ryzen it's gonna be hard I don't even think r3 is gonna be cheap. But all I need is six cores ideally a FX 6200 should be able to do it because it's cheap and I mean three cores for gaming and three for recording. Wish the 5870 had support for amd encoding that way it would open up some room but it's whatever.
