Should I upgrade?

I've been looking at dabbling in 1440p gaming but I'm concerned that my GTX 970 will struggle if I do.  I'm happy to play on high or possibly even medium as long as it still looks good, but even then my concern is that AAA games such as BF1 and The Witcher 3 will not stay at a stable 60fps. My question is therefore whether I should look at upgrading my GPU for this purpose, and if so, to what? Thanks in advance.

get a gtx 1070 for 1440p, its a noticeable.

With some overclock (900 series can be OCed decently) you can play pretty much 80% of games at 1440p 50-60 FPS on Medium. Personally i would do that and wait for new AMD cards.

Yes, a 1070 would be a good upgrade, cheap 1080 if you can swing it.

Would playing on lower settings for now and waiting for the AMD cards, as someone previously suggested, be a viable option?

I would wait to see what cards come up and check the price.

You could lower options, but waiting for Vega is a mistake. AMD is stalling. They have commited to nothing, so we know nothing. All we have is a logo. 

 

Not picking on AMD, just stating the reality of the situation. If AMD wants to commit to pricing and/or models, then the story changes.

@App4that Ah okay I understand your perspective, I may just wait until AMD release some more info and then base my decision off of that.
