Noob question

My gaming laptop:

 

- GTX 1060

- i7 6700HQ

- 16gb RAM

 

but laptop display is full hd. I got a 4k TV though. If I connect my laptop to the tv via hdmi or display will I be able to play games in 4k ?

Can I set the resolution of the game in the settings to 4k ?

Yes, if you don't mind 30fps at high/ultra or something like 45-60 at low/medium

Well a PS4 Pro doesnt go above 30fps while playing 4k content either, right?

Yes you will but i would not do that with 1060

We also thought to buy a PS4 pro so we can play 4k games on the 4k TV.

Idk which is a better choise.

No idea dude,personally i would play 1440p max with GTX1060

It usually wouldn't even play in native 4K, maybe 1800p/1440p. Depends on the game.

Well most games on the PS4 pro aren't even running at 4K...it's more like upscaled 1800P at low/medium while still only at 30fps 

 

By the way, I forgot an important word in my original post, 

"Yes, if you don't mind 30fps at high/ultra or something like 45-60 at low/medium in most games"

Not all games will be able to run at 4K high/ultra and still maintain 30fps however, turning the settings down to medium will deffo result in more or less all games being able to run at 4K 30fps

I guess I have to buy a ps4 pro so i can play games upscaled to 4k while having 30 FPS then.

 

How do i know if games have 4k option? I would like to buy the 4k titles only.

Wut? I was talking about a GTX 770/R9 280X...not your 1060...

 

Your 1060 will run almost all triple As natively at 4K high/ultra with 30fps (or more)

Well...you can also view the question as whether his 1060 is powerful enough to run games at 4K  

To be fair, his question is probably both so...display it is as it came before running the actual games.
