I have a cannon rf800 and want to live stream to YouTube. i've heard some less than satisfactory things about the avermedia stuff, and honestly the reviews on amazon are less than inspiring as well.

 

there's one 3-star review that uses some very good wording: "okay if you want to jump trough some hoops".

i guess that if your budget is limited they'll do, but if you have the money, *PLEASE* get some epiphan gear. their stuff made it on the space station, which if i need remind people, means that they trust it to not become a piece of space junk after a few years, but will essentially stay functional enough to be used pretty much indefenately.

The Avio capture cards actually come highly recomended. LTT and Barnacules both had it on their channels. They do have one that is 1080p60 if you don't wanna do 4K30.

He isn't really trolling you, you just asked for a capture card for your camera without any additional information, the responses you have gotten here are in the ballpark of possibilities, going from high end internal and external cards that will last a long time down to the minimal but reliable option that will be good enough.

You say live streaming to youtube, but what do you actually mean with it? content focused streams?(mostly screen capture) information/WAN-show style? as mentioned earlier, the avio is a good choice considering it's price and is reliable for most cases.
avermedia is good, but(also mentioned in a LTT video) has issues and might not always work properly, IIRC the one that Linus had stopped working randomly.

If your camera has a USB connection you might also be able to connect it directly.

He was trolling because I asked for a more affordable let solution than $400 and he links stuff 10 times more expensive. The camcorder is an rf800. I already use OBS and shadow play for screen capture and streaming. Right now I use a web cam for streaming build logs and short videos.
