If you have a black american express, this question is non-sense.

Otherwise i will say : budget !

Simple rules:

- If it works, dont update it.

- You don't know how, just do it, you will learn.

- Test, restest, test again, and maybe it will do it.

All depends on what you are after. I had to decide between these two as well - I went with the RX 480 due to its Crossfire capability and the GTX 1060 not being able to be SLI'd. Also depends on what titles you are playing... DirectX11 or DirectX12 games.

What are YOU personally after? Have you watched some YouTube videos to help you decide or just came straight here?

It still struggles in DirectX11 games compared to the 1060, but performance has certainly increased which balances the 1060 and RX 480 out making it even harder to choose. ;)

http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-RX-480-vs-GeForce-GTX-1060

This shows 'interesting' perspectives of the two graphic cards; although the 1060 is 0.5 better on 'marking' the RX 480 wins on some 'platforms'. Then maybe compare the two by yourself on there websites.

Hope I have helped.

for dx11 games, 1060, for "futureproof" and vulkan, dx 12 games, 480

tbh, 1060 is too expensive for its performance against 480 and 480 isnt that bad at dx11, just a couple frames less... (also, more chances to get bottleneck by 1060 and les with the 480)

gpuboss is bullshit

the 1060 beats the 480 for 8% as you can see in the link above so isnt worth spending 50 bucks more on a minimal performance increase imo

Calm down my man. lol. We are all trying to help one and other.

As you say 8% is not a lot especially for the price.

One person makes a topic about 1060 vs RX 480 the thread burst into life. lol.

I would imagine the RX 480 has gone down in price for AMD Vegas launch and 1080 TI coming out (Have not even had a look at its specs, probably should though ).

Never use gpuboss it is a pile of trash if you want broad comparison go for userbenchmark

Get a 480. Equal in dx11, better in new APIs (dx12 and Vulkan). If you don't have a monitor already, get a 144 Hz FreeSync monitor. They're much cheaper than gsync monitors.
