Wasn't sure what they meant as in "4-pack". A pack of 4 keys or a pack with 4 sets of keys.

Non plastic keycaps are expensive. Especially ones that require special machining for production -- which wooden keycaps do require. I've got a single keycap on my keyboard that costed $55 retail.

and go on 3dhubs.com and find someone with wood filament to print it for you - should cost roughly 50 bucks or 60 bucks with shipping included

Well why sets of 4. Even if they are legit keys. 4 seems a bit odd. Though maybe it's because I'm not into the who mechanical keyboard scene.

Made of wood? No, it's really not. There's a lot of manual labor involved in making them. That's $6.5/cap -- and if each cap takes 45 minutes (say, 25 minutes milling, given the intricacies of the MX stem, and 20 minutes for sanding + QC), that's almost under minimum wage in some states.

 

Edit: They're also all made by one person in this case, as per the massdrop page's discussion.

CNC stands for computer numerical control.

 

Basically you program it to make exact cuts in the wood.

 

You still need to hand sand and polish the keys manually. As well as not fuck up the wood.

it would be easier to glue an insert into a hollowed key for attachment. wood (lol) save on a lot of knob hobbery.
