Share your bad computer store experiences!

Like maybe talking to a geek squad guy and hearing really stupid crap from him that you wanna punch him in the face. Or something similar. Just share your bad or stupid computer store experiences that can make us laugh. :D

Me first: A phone clerk in a samsung store once told me using a different micro-usb cable on my galaxy would make it explode. and another phone guy followed me around the mall trying to sell me the Xperia XZ....

Generally, any retail store I've been in has been bad. They are sales people and rarely techy.

When I was a kid I went to PC World with my aunty, I was wandering round and when I came to find her one of the store guys was talking all this sh*t to her about the laptops she was looking at. I just said to him we don't need any help at all see yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Get that replaced mate

I did. This was from the new camera. I did make a video from the clips I found on the old one (mostly shaky footage because subwoofer, followed by the exact same problem I have with the new one) here:

Not my experience but a friend of mine. When he moved out to Colorado he had issues finding a job at first. He applied a Best Buy for the Geek Squad. After they explained the job to him, he came to the conclusion that he was not their to help people. He was their to make them buy a new machine. Gladly he never took a job with them. He now works on a Help Desk for Progressive Auto Insurance and gets to properly help people.

He actually said he applied for that Best Buy position twice by mistake. When he went in the second time he was like "OH yeah I remember I did this before, they dont want me to help people." LOL.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

That's, so F..ked up. I have learned one thing when gaming on a PC on a budget, every cent count. that's why I learned how to build a PC and to get the best value for money. To be sick to children that want to game and say they need a new system is, just sick. And some people rip them off and steal some ram to make their PC slower, so they can buy more. That makes me so angry.

I once took my laptop to best buy to have it repaired. They said the reason it broke was because I left it in sleep mode for too long. Turns out that my hard drive had failed.

Sleep mode should not be the culprit, Hibernation mode should be, lol.

Took a friend to a local Best Buy back in January to use his $300 Best Buy gift card to buy some stuff for a budget gaming rig.

The employee that helped us tried really hard to sell him a GTX 960 that was grossly overpriced, at $219! I was aghast, and I told my friend in front of the employee that the GTX 960 is literally a pointless purchase at any price point in any scenario, at any budget.

We settled on a GTX 1050 TI and got a manager to price match it with Newegg's price, along with a small discount for "harassment" by the employee :). Also bought a Steelseries Rival 300 and a QCK mousepad. My friend plays a lot of CS:GO, and I think the Rival 300 is a great mouse for that if I'm not mistaken... I don't play CS:GO.

Would have gotten an RX 470, if not for my friend being adamant on not getting an AMD card. Oh well.

This is 100% me. If I'm going into a store it's not because I am interested in the expertise of the store employees. I'm in there because I already know what I want and the only question I'll have is if I can't find something I'm looking for on the shelf.

When they're trying to sell two year old iMacs and Macbook Pro's as brand new items, for the same price as the new ones in the Apple store..

PC - NZXT H510 Elite, Ryzen 5600, 16GB DDR3200 2x8GB, EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, Asus VG278HQ 165hz,

Mac - 1.4ghz i5, 4GB DDR3 1600mhz, Intel HD 5000.  x2

Endlessly wishing for a BBQ in space.

Standard PC World/Curries approach of trying to sell me a £200+ Monster HDMI cable with a TV I was buying.

Interestingly their "quality comparison" display was two Sony HD TVs with some kind of media player outputting to one TV via SCART and the other by this "Monster" cable.
