Hello!

I am going to start building a new PC, and I got a 4000$ budget to play with.

I already have a 1kW PSU, and a bunch of SSD/HDD, so I wont be needing that.

(Stuff I need is: Chassi, MB, CPU, GPU, RAM, CPU-cooler, Fans)

Anyone got some nice build ideas with that budget? Im thinking of going with 2x1080Ti in SLI.

Would be nice with orange/black themed stuff.

(X99?, 1151?)

Im going to use the PC almost exclusively for gaming, and need to be able to run at resolutions up to 7680x1440@144Hz.

Would be really grateful for some nice ideas :)

I know 6900K is better than ryzen, but you could save $500 by going with the 1800X if you're willing to accept slightly lower performance.

x99, i suggest a 6900k or a 5960x with a custom loop for overclocking, 64gb ram you should be futureproofed for a while.

Is it cost efficient to go for the 6900k instead of a 7700k?

What is the reassoning for X99 over 1151? Ive been wondering myself which chipset performs the best in gaming, especially when it comes to SLI setups.

I think Ryzen is out of the question unfortunately. It does offer great performance for a lower price.

But from what Ive heard the typical Kaby Lake flagships outperforms Ryzen when it comes to gaming, for a fairly equal price.

Correct me if Im wrong though :)

Hold your fuckin horses.

X99 is at its end of the two generation lifespan the HEDT (High End Desk Top) architecture has.

X299 is scheduled for Q3.

X99 =/= optimum gaming architecture

If it's just for gaming go for 2x1080Tis and a 7700k and a custom loop so you can OC the shit outta it

idk

Looks pretty solid! Ryzen did perform well on many things, but what does it have over Intel in gaming?

Would you choose it just because it is better overall?  Or does it actually outperform Intel in some games?

(Also, I already have a non OEM Win10 on my current setup, so I will probably just use that one)

Thanks for the suggestions!

Black case with orange highlights. RGB cpu cooler, memory modules, and motherboard. Wait for GTX 1080 Ti non-reference cooler models. Know you don't need the storage, but a large NVMe drive offers excellent performance.

So you would say 1151 for sure? I heard that X99 could help out with the increase in PCIE lanes for SLI setups, but is 1151 still superior just because they are better suited for gaming?

If X299 is coming out Q3, it would be a bit too long of a wait :D

X99 is silly.. 1151 for sure. 8/8 lanes are enough for even 1080Tis. Back in the days of 4 way SLI they used X99 since it ran 8/8/8/8/8 for 40 lane processors.

Games take advantage of single core performance. X99 has more cores with lower clocks whereas Z270 has less cores with higher clocks.

idk

Oh man, that looks solid! Really good looking equipment, and maybe, just maybe I will get an M.2 unit, since people say they perform really well.

Those RAM modules arent available here in Sweden, but switching those out wont be hard with how well all the others fit together.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion!

Alright, thanks for the info! I guess I will just go for 1151 then, and OC it as best I can. :)

Intel hardly outperforms ryzen, go with amd and you should be happy.

Fast asf.. except your average NVMe SSD is quicker. Why? Because they use the same bus.

600p 1TB is $360, get two and run one for OS and one for games :D:D

Looks amazing! Alot of stuff for that amount of money!

But does the  6700k really have enough lanes to support 2xGPUs in SLI and those SSDs?

As in it is not very good for an NVMe SSD. The write speed isn't much faster than a regular SATA SSD. If you want a fast NVMe SSD then go with the Samsung 960 EVO.

Oh ye, someone recommended that one in an earlier suggestion. I guess I'll have to look into the NVMe SSD's.

But how many lanes is necessary to run 2x1080Ti + one of those SSD's?

As long as you have a Z270 board that supports SLI then you are good to go (Assuming you are going for an i7 7700K build).
