Gtx 1060 or a Rx 480 for a 7700k

So i recently built a pc,my first built abt 2 weeks ago,the specs are as follows:-

cpu:- i7 7700k

Cooler:-Corsair Hydro H60

Motherboard:- Msi Z270 Tomahawk

Ram:- 12gb corsair vengence Black Ram(A 8gb stick and a 4gb stick)

Ssd:- Samsung 850 evo 250gb

HDD:- 2tb segate

Psu:- Evga Supernova G2 550w

Case:- Nzxt phantom 240

The only thing missing from my build is a gpu which i have about  $260 left for a gpu and i was planning to go team red on this one, with a Asus Rog strix Radeon Rx 480 8gb.

Yes ik a gtx 1060 gives me a better bang for buck but in 4-5 months i should have enough to get another Rx 480 to work in crossfire.

My question was that, i have read some forum posts saying that a radeon card isnt the best pick to go with a intel cpu it reduces performance, so is that a myth or does it affect performance, if so then how much ?

Thnx in advance.

The 480 will be cheaper, but I prefer the 1060, mostly for Nvidia features like Shadowplay. You'll be looking at pretty similar performance either way.

To be honest it wouldn't hurt to put a 1070 in this PC, yes you'll have to save up for a bit longer however it's totally worth it.

What he said^

The 480 ultimately will give you slightly better performance in DX12 titles and gives you 8GB VRAM compared to the 1060's 6GB.

Pretty much the same, but the better one would be the RX 480 unless you what the NVidia features.

Whichever is cheap at the moment. Either way, it's pretty even.

neither, i say go higher. if you have the money for a high end i7, im sure you can find the money for a 1070/1080 to pair with it

Well I dont, thts the problem, I need to save up for another 3-4 months to go for a 1070 -1080. The reason I need a beefier cpu is coz I do some coding too although ill use it mainly for gaming, recording n editing

How is the gtx1060 better bang for the buck?

In my country the RX480 is 250 and the GTX1060 is 340 euro (both MSI Gaming X), thats 36% more expensive!

I know prices may very per country but the RX480 should be better bang-for-the-buck almost everywhere since the MSRP is lower.

On topic: between the two the RX480 is the clear winner with the current pricing.

Depending on your resolution and need for Ultra settings you should decide whether the price of the GTX1070 is worth it (its less bang-for-the-buck).

Desktop: Intel i9-10850K (R9 3900X died 😢 )| MSI Z490 Tomahawk | RTX 2080 (borrowed from work) - MSI GTX 1080 | 64GB 3600MHz CL16 memory | Corsair H100i (NF-F12 fans) | Samsung 970 EVO 512GB | Intel 665p 2TB | Samsung 830 256GB| 3TB HDD | Corsair 450D | Corsair RM550x | MG279Q

Laptop: Surface Pro 7 (i5, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD)

Console: PlayStation 4 Pro

Yeah thats kind of the point the RX480 is $268 and the Gtx1060 is $270 for me, with a $10 delivery charge on both so the price is almost the same for both.My only concern is that i read somewhere that a radeon card doesnt gives 100% performance when paired with a intel chip. So is that a myth or is it true ? Also how much does it affect the performance if its true.

That's bullshit. That's basically saying every test done by reviewers out there with Intel chip are wrong.

I would suggest the RX480. You can get a freesync monitor down the road and enjoy some buttery smooth gaming.

That is a complete myth.  AMD and Intel go along together just fine, same as with AMD and Nvidia.  You don't need to pair red to red and blue to green to get performance.
