Psu fan failing

So it's been quite a few years with this psu. Noticed lately the fan Is getting quite loud. Idle isn't too bad but under load it's the only thing I can hear from the pc.

Have a few options and wanted some opinions.

I have a 2000 rpm noctua and some corsair fans sitting around. I have some extra cables to use so I'll only be cutting the old fan for its harness.

So wire ire a new fan in and run the signal back to a mobo fan header so I can monitor the rpm, just for the heck of it. Or straight up run the whole wire to the mobo. Or get some sort of replacement fan basically requiring no mods.

Its an ozc 1000 watt. Forgot the name of who bought them out. Fire storm or something.

You can replace the fan in the PSU if it failed just take note of the dangers as the capacitors can hold enough power to injure someone. In general if you want to open it you will want to leave it unplugged for at least 30-60mins before opening and be mindful of the contacts of the capacitors and to not short them. For the fan you can have the option to either directly wire it back into the PSU or out the unit to the motherboard for control and monitoring.

If you want to wire it directly to the PSU you most likely will require an adapter like this:

You need a 3000rpm fan with similar specs at least.

But the OCZ is also a bit older, so if the fan fails maybe you should think about replacing it?

3k? I assume for it to match the voltage increases like the stock one. Never heard it get that loud even with 3 cards.

Nothing has failed, just what the noisey fan swapped. Ive opened psu's plenty of times for cleaning. Just wanted to see what people would do, as I already know my options.

Not in a rush to buy another ocz at the moment either.
