LyricalRain018

Hey guys, i am going to build a pc. I wanted a gpu that will last for around 4 years at mid-high settings in aaa games, at 1080p. Which would it be?

Depends on your budget.

From more affordable cards that'd be either RX 480 8GB or an R9 Fury minimum, but a GTX 1070 would do a better job, for more money though.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

I'd say a gtx 1070 would fit nicely for that bill, even for more than 4 years.

Unless the "next generation" of consoles are a significant step up, i doubt you will need any more than that to be honest.

Although  a gtx 1060 would do just fine as well, if you are tight on a budget.

The current best 1080p cards are 1060 and 480, but 1070 will last you years.

qυoтe мe pleaѕe!

Me at the Apple store: "So how fast is this little macbook?"

Apple employee: "Cheetah Fast. Lightning Fast. It's Really, really, fast."

The upcoming rx580 is probably going to be a great deal for future proofing 1080p, the 1070 also is a nice bet but with Vega getting closer and all it might not be the best deal right now, maybe wait the 1080ti get more sales and try buying a second hand 1080?

Right now GTX 1060 6GB and RX 480 8GB.

But 4 years from now ... Probbably GTX 1070 if not GTX 1080.

Games are more demanding every year.

GTX 780Ti was released less than 4 years ago, and it's compared with GTX 1060 today. Which is 1080p card.

Or maybe not ... maybe someone will find new way to optimise games, and those will be able to run on old pentium 4 and iGPU xD

If every game was made by the witcher developers we could actually hope so, beautiful game that mid end cards can still manage, imagine if Ubisoft made it, even a Titan XP/1080ti would get 10fps on 1080p xD

Or Blizzard and Overwatch.

Overwatch is by far the most stable game when it comes to FPS. If all games were optimised that far ... PC gamers wouldn't leave their cages xD

I hear you mate, it is a shame that in order to milk some extra bucks so many games leave developing before they are even ready or polished, especially when the game is shallow as in has a bad story, bad empty characters, no plot etc like most Ubisoft games lately and the only thing to make up are the graphics but you need a GTX 1080 or more to really see any beauty since nobody cares for optimization.
