Gaming on ultrawide monitors...

NoisanceRitual

Gaming on ultrawide monitors... like... for thoses of you like me that don't have 2-3 gpu and want to drive a ultrawide 1440p monitor... gaming around 60fps or more in general in all games...

I mean my question is... Can i setup the 3440 x 1440 monitors to use only for example 2560x1440 or 1080p at the center of the ultrawide and having black bars each side? Is that how it works when choosing the resolution in games ?

Will it work mostly for all the games?

Thanks to all for your help :)

I own an LG 29ub55-b personally, so this is from personal experience.

some games refuse to run at 2560x1080, and only go up to 1920x1080. You can choose the aspect ratio in most games, and either have it stretched, or deal with the black bars.

You'll be fine at 2560x1440 at 3440x1440 as long as you choose a 16:9 aspect ratio in game settings.

If you don't have the video card power to drive 3440x1440, take a look at 2560x1080. It's a similar experience, but much easier on your GPU.

Snorlax: i7 5820k @4.5ghz, Asus X99 Pro, 32gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666, Cryorig R1 Ultimate, Samsung 850 evo 500gb, Asus GTX 1080 ROG Strix, Corsair RM850x, NZXT H440, Hue+

Smallsnor: Huawei Matebook X

ok thanks, yes i have gtx1070 with 2560x1440 25inch but i think 25inch is too small for that resolution, just a bit... im tempted to get 3440x1440 on a 32"

Yes.

How you want different resolutions to be handled is something you set up in the NVIDIA control panel, it doesn't depend on the game.

3440x1440 is definitely doable, provided you turn down some settings a bit
