Linus told people to put their affiliate link as a bookmark so that everything a person buys goes through their link. That's what got him banned.

So I am now an amazon associate and will put my link into each video description.  When I do builds, can I send an affiliate for each link in the description as well or is that what Linus did and got into trouble?

Best to watch the video and find out. Having the affiliate links in the description is fine, it was something about the way they were integrated into the videos.

If you link to the product with your affiliate code included it'll be fine.

If you just use your affiliate code to link directly to amazon without linking to a product will get you banned from the affiliate program (which is pretty much what Linus used to do by requesting that people bookmark a direct link to amazon which includes their affiliate code which wasn't allowed under their terms for the affiliate program).
