What server?

What happens when you turn it on? Fans? lights? Most have a diagonstic panel.

Gpu is on the board.

You don't need a gpu to post and bios

server don't know exactly off the top of my head, has an asus dbsv-d board inside, dual xeons, 8 gigs ram ecc, and a 1 tb hdd i dropped in. when i turn it on i get fans and lights, it just doesn't display to monitor. thanks for replying.

Edit: found the page where i bought it ASUS DSBV-D 8032A0 2x Intel Xeon 5110

The monitor is connected via VGA without adapters or converters? Did you maybe try another monitor or made sure the monitor you are using is working properly on VGA? Other things I would check is that everything is properly installed and plugged in, I had it once where a server came and one stick of RAM was not properly plugged in.

can i test with a single cpu or does it require 2 to post?

you can use one. What ram do you have.

Those systems are basically through away though. They chew lots of power and are pretty slow.
