Chair upgrade but is it worth it

fordpower

the other day i went to Fys electronics with a friend who was looking at macbooks for his music and next to them they where these gaming chairs and we sat in some  "Clutch Crank-E chair" and we did not leave for about 45min-1hour because they where so comfortable. But the chair i have at home (3 year old hammy down IKEA chair from my mom) is still in good condition but form long periods of sitting and using it with my wheel for racing games it gets uncomfortable on my butt and the arm rests are uncomfortable. ether than miner gaming and working at my desk (which is not frequent because i sit on the couch with my laptop because I don't have a powerful PC yet) is it worth it? or is there another brand to consider. If i upgrade i would like to stay around $350 which seems to be quite average, and in about a month I would be looking to get it by buying it or hopefully for my 18th birthday.

If you want 60+fps 4k you need to go with the green chairs.......JK. Really the only way to know if you will like gaming in the chair is to sit in it and try it for a while, It all comes down to preference.

Worth is a subjective value.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it. I'd go for one of the new customer return Herman Miller chairs off eBay for an extra $150ish.

350 for that?? I just saw a random chair someone dumped away near my house for free. It's black and have no fancy colors but it still works

And those damn tabs, how many TB of RAM are you consuming?

I see your point 350 is a lot for a chair I will use 3-4 times a week but I don't know if I would want to spend another 150 on something I won't use a lot but one reason I went Clutch is the all aluminum alloy base and full tubular steel frame for it to last for years.

Depends how you want to look at it. The chair from $350 will depreciate. It's not really a known brand so it will depreciate quite a bit. A Herman Miller on the other hand is a very well known and respected brand, and the chairs cost a great deal more than the open box price. For example, a fully loaded Herman Miller chair in Canada is pushing $1,600. So chances are you could easily sell it for what you paid several years down the line. It's also ergonomically designed, unlike the Clutch which let's be honest is a cars racing seat with some pillows. I wouldn't focus on the base and frame. It's padding, arms, etc that will fail long before that.

Tbh now that I know you can get open box ones online, I might start buying 2 or 3 a month when I move back to Vancouver and reselling them.
