Hey, I am wondering if it will possible to get a game on Switch in digital form if I buy the cartridge or will I have to pay for each, physical and digital? Did nintendo say anything about that?

You have to pay for both if you want both.

But since you can store digital versions on an SD card, it's like having a cartridge. I guess. :3

well, that sucks, thanks for the info. digital it is i guess...

Personally I'm going to mix and match. I bought a case that stores quite a bit of games, and some smaller titles I will just download. If you plan on purchasing lots of titles but do not wish to store them digitally for risk of filling up the storage then a case is probably in your best interest :)

i think i should be fine with 128gb sd card. I am not planning on having that many games as I will mostly use it either on the go or with friends. I have a PC for gaming alone at home :)

Judging by what they did in the past (on the Wii U and 3DS) you would have to re-buy the digital version if you don't want to use the cartridge again (or lost it for example).

For example on the Wii U, if you play a physical game it remembers that game on your main screen (as an icon), but when you click it to launch the game it tells you to insert the disc into the system.

The 3DS had no way of switching to digital either.

Nintendo didn't say anything. But based on what I am reading, it doesn't looks like.

Thinking about, it would be an easy way to pirate games. For example, you lend your game cartridge, I copy the game to my system, and give you back the cartridge. The cartridge uses ROM chip (or at least the console doesn't write on them), so they are (or treated as) read only chip.

well they could have it that the game needs to authenticate online after a first run without cartridge. I am sure it could be done but Nintendo wants more money. On my switch, Ive been going digital so far and I love it. It is comfortable :)
