I just recently got my Nexus 5 and one of the key features is Google Now. However in my opinion I don't find it very useful. All it shows me is the weather and stocks, plus sometimes directions. Ok I don't use Gmail so this may be another thing but really I find it a bit useless and not how it was made out to be. I don't know maybe I am asking too much of it?

I want to know if you guys use Google Now, if so how do you use it, what device and what country.

I use a Nexus 5 in the UK

I'm using it on a Galaxy Tab where it doesn't react when I say Google now, so I have to swipe up and then I can talk. I enjoy it. But I wish there was more voice over after searches. Like what Siri does where it says here are the results.

Sometimes I just bring it up because I like the animation, but the functionality of it is questionable.

Voice search is cool but the actual Google Now app doesn't seem that useful, I think I found Siri more useful though because of what it could do.

I think Google Now really is only useful if you travel a lot with the stuff it does such as bus timetables, flights, currency conversion. But for everyday use? Not really.

I really want to use it, but I just don't know how to!

Works and is bloody fast. And it tells me my ETA to school and home. Lovely IMO.

How else do you use it apart from directions? It gives me directions but I don't find them useful because of the distances are so small. In terms of web search its brilliant, nothing beats it. But I'm not so sure about the whole cards idea.

Maybe thats what I was wondering, who actually finds the Google Now cards useful?

I only use G now for sports scores, directions (since I am too young to drive), weather and general news. And I don't use the card often. I just look at the drop down menu. If I want more information, then I consult the cards. But most of the time, the information on the drop down menu is sufficient for a quick gaze.

What do you mean by the drop down menu? I thought there was only one way of accessing it? Also by general news do you mean like news around the world? If so how do you enable this, I can't find anywhere to enable it.

Oh yh that, for weather its kinda handy and stuff. I am going to try and look for ways to improve my usage on it though.

Well, both Apple and Google over hyped the usability of these voice personal assistant things IMO, though Google Now has the best implementation currently.

Not as stupid as Siri.

More informative.

If everything works out it should display much better info for like what you are doing which is really a great feature.

Looks great.

Cons.

Made my Google.

They are tracking every fracking move you make and then pretend to help you while storing where the hell you are on some server in the middle of the fracking Atlantic Ocean...

Otherwise is pretty good :D

Go to Google Now settings -> Voice -> Speak Output -> Always (instead of "only when informative")

I need more SSDs.
