Try uploading to google Drive and then just linking/sharing that with your friend?  Or a similar cloud solution.

You really shouldn't be sending videos in emails. Do what Ashley said and use something like Google Drive instead.

 

You won't be able to lower the file size of the video without sacrificing the image quality.

Your best bet is to try a lossless container format like using bzip or 7zip on the absolutely highest compression level. It will take a while and will likely still be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too large for email.

 

Don't email movies. Instead host them somewhere and link them like mentioned above. If the video contains confidential information and cannot be hosted publicly, then you're better off using physical media and physically mailing it.

Just upload it to a cloud service (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive) and send them the link.
