Hey guys, I have my FX-6300 OC'd @ 4.2 on my MSI 970 gaming MOBO [16gb Corsair Veng ddr3]. Games run fine,

but there are some things (like game recording/streaming) that I'd like to do at a higher level.

My question is:

Would it be worth it to switch from my current setup, to a 1151

socket gaming motherboard and a g4560 (possible future upgrades).

From what I've read, the g4560 out performs the FX6300.

Also what do you think I could get for my current MOBO, CPU, & RAM on the used market?

THANKS! :)

Taylor

You'd have to comparison price in your local market to figure out value. The numbers you get from most people here will be relative to their current market conditions, not what you could likely get. Unless you plan to ship, then you can just sell it on the Reddit Hardware Swap. Again, you'd have to go over and check out what the pricing is like.

I wouldn't upgrade until Ryzen comes out, then see how that performs. I have a feeling that'll be the route you'll want to go with if you're on a serious budget. I can't see the Pentium being better when it comes to game recording and streaming, as you're losing cores. You get better single core performance, but I think for your use you'll want to save up and get something a little better.

I'm jelly. I love Seattle.

id reccomend haswell or sandybridge (i7 if sandy) , or you could wait for ryzen[tm] its just 2 weeks away ,

and even if you dont buy ryzen , many others will ,and that will flood the used market and you can get the best picks then rather than now

edit , totally forgot the price for the used of yours , a 6300 is worth 30~50$ (yea its that bad :/ ) the mobo isnt much better , ram tho would be 80$

RyzenAir : AMD R5 3600 | AsRock AB350M Pro4 | 32gb Aegis DDR4 3000 | GTX 1070 FE | Fractal Design Node 804
RyzenITX : Ryzen 7 1700 | GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI | 16gb DDR4 2666 | GTX 1060 | Cougar QBX

Do you think i7's will drop to a more reasonable price with the release of Ryzen?

And that sucks about my prices... I thought I'd be able to get a bit more. Maybe I'll be able to find someone willing to pay just a bit more :/

Thanks for the replies so far guys!
