Look at the pictures... there's a pci-e right under the GPU.

It's about 1cm maybe less space between.

The fan doesnt seem to hit the bottom card...

 

Also ... can i use smaller pci-e cards like this one in the longer pci-e slots?

you *can* use the short card in the longer slots, but you shouldnt if you can avoid doing so, because they usually reduce your GPU's slot to 8x bandwidth.

 

that said, you have a 1x slot above your GPU, is there a reason you cant put it there? having it underneath your GPU isnt a problem, but the silence freak inside me is screaming over the few % extra fan speed that may require :P

haha ok i understand.

well it's because other ones will be used too hehe, so ill put the smallest one right under the gpu :)

Yes you can as long as the fan is not obstructed or you gpu temp doesnt rise many degrees. It also happends to me on my mobo with the gpu and the soundcard, but surprisingly It doesnt affect the airflow for the gpu at all.
