ASUS RT-AC68 for the router and PCIe- Ac68 for the card. :))

Well that is if you do streaming or you have a nas at home or if you ever intend to get a shield or something but

A D-link 300 or 450 Mbps Pcie card would do fine and any router from ASUS or D-Link should do a trick.

If you can afford it try putting a router on both floors of the house.

It should be perfectly fine considering my WRT54G works fine from 2 floors up (it's in the basement)

1mbps is what like 100 KBps, any router can do that without breaking a sweat, and your wifi should be fine a few floors up even with lower signal.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)
