Anyone with this kind of money who cares about aesthetics should be watercooling. Fact. Anything else just makes you look like you have more money than sense.

Fuck why a 1TB SSD

Because Dex, maybe like me he has about 800gb worth of games and wants fast load times without having to switch between hard drives. Or maybe like me has a growing database of content and wants faster write and transfer speeds. :D

Get RGB RAM maybe?

Get Asus Strix ROG 1080 instead

Fuck why a 1TB SSD?

You could have spent less and able to get a 1080 in SLI or even a Titan X Pascal if you went originally with a FE card

What's this build for? Why 32GB of RAM?

I am gonna use this pc mainly for editing and graphic design so that's why i want so much RAM. As for the RGB ram sticks, i don't really want to over-do the lights since i have the AER fans and the Hue+

  1. Alright if its 1440p get the Asus Strixx 1070 instead of 1080,(-200$)
  2. If you buy a 1TB SSD don't buy the 250Gb one, if you need redundancy get 2x512Gb they are the same price and youy can repurpose one of them later on.
  3. Take the Asus Maximus IX Code instead of the formula its better looking IMO, and cheaper for what its offering.

If you are trolling which you propably are, you could have an beast x99 PC with that money instead of z270 which is shit compared to previous intel line ups.

That build is quite frankly terrible.

4000 dollars and you won't even get a 6 core CPU?

No M.2 SSD?

What's up with that tiny 250GB SSD along with that massive 1TB one?

The tiny ssd is for windows partitioning and drivers. I know they don't require that much free space but it's better more than less.

Get X99 in that case, or wait for Ryzen. That would actually make more sense given the leaked prices. X99 will cost more than twice as much.

X299 is set to debut in the second half of this year. With the release of Ryzen also upcoming, I say hold off on dropping four grand on a build that quite frankly is going to be wasteful in many regards. An X299 build will be plenty for the next ten years probably, so in theory it should pay for itself. Just a thought. Your current build will work, it's just not optimal in terms of cost/benefit.

Compared to your build it has:

  • Much better CPU for CPU heavy tasks (which you alluded to when you justified the high amount of RAM).
  • MUCH MUCH faster SSD, and more of it (1.5TB in total, instead of 1.25TB).
  • Better GPU (same core, but better cooler)
  • The rest is the same, except the PSU which is still a fantastic, and very overkill PSU for this build.

Or you could just wait a little while, and then not buy such an expensive computer. That's what a rational person would do.
