So I will be moving from console to PC very soon and I have what I think would be a good PC, but i am trying to figure out what cables I will need to order from cable mod.

At the moment I chose these parts:

Gtx 1070

I5 7600

Fury 16gb ram

Strix z270 motherboard

Corsair cx650 pay

2tb Western digital hard drive

240gb Kingston SSD

And for the case I'm stuck between the Corsair spec alpha and the thermaltake P5.

Could someone please help me to figure out what cables I will need to order from cablemods, I know I need a 24 pin, besides that I'm not to sure.

Graciass,

KN

If you want to overclock your CPU u need to buy one that is overclockable. The ones that are overclockable have a K next to their number. For example i7 6700K.  If you don't plan to overclock your CPU then buy a motherboard with an H next to the number instead of a Z. For example: H170 instead of Z170. For the cablemods it depends on your own preference. First of all make sure that the cablemods are compatible with your Power Supply and then pick a certain color combination to go with your build. It's all personal preference if it comes to camblemods.

decide if you want to overclock. If yes, get a k sku cpu. If no get a B250 mobo. Get better ssd (the go-to atm are samsung 850 evo). Get a better psu with not so many watts ( i would recommend evga 550w g3 or g2, though other brands do good ones too). Isn't the P5 the open air one with the panel of glass at the front? Not that practical.

If you make a post contradicting mine that doesn't directly address my claims, or cites 'facts' without evidence, I'm probably not going to bother responding to it, because you probably didn't bother reading my post properly, and because life is too short. It doesn't mean I don't have an answer for you. It means I'm not dignifying you with a response.

You should not need to buy any cables. As long as you bought a decent power supply, that will come with everything you need and as variety of others you probably won't need. Your GPU should come with the proper cables as well, so you will likely end up with 2 sets of those. Your HDD and SSD should come with the SATA cables, and your PSU will have some as well. I hope you are getting at least a couple case fans, unless your case comes with them included.

The cables are probably for aesthetics to match his colour scheme, rather than just having boring black ones :P

Good point. In that case I would just get 3x8 pins, 3x6 pins, 1x4 pin, 1x24 pin, and a few USB/ATX/SATA/MOLEX cords. That should cover it.

Which 1070 specifically? Some require 8 pins, others a 6 and 8 pin, and i think some even 8+8

Also with that Z270 board, i'd get a 7600k processor, though you'll need to buy a cooler for it.

I chose the asus gtx 1070 Strix, and I am getting the i5 7600 the new kaby lake one.

  • 1 month later...

SO i bought my pc, i think the only time i have ever been that incredibly nervous was when my son was born,

i bought as follows,

Asus Strix z270H (was told it would be good if i wanted to do overclocking in the future.WAS UPSET that i didnt get the RGB vers.)

Intel I5 7600K i couldnt spend an extra $200 on cpu

Asus Strix GTX 1070 (first one the backplate light was unplugged :( exchanged for another which was working)

Corsair Dominator Platinum 16gb (i wanted the RGB Ram but didnt want to wait)

Corsair RM750X PSU (i wanted modular so i could change out the wires, glad i did so because the case was much smaller than i thought it would be)

Kingston 220GB SSD

Toshiba 4TB HD

Corsair HD120 fans with controller

Hyper Evo 212 Cpu cooler (probably going to get a second fan just in case)

InWin 303 case (i really love the way this case looks, i love the shape of the cut outs for ventilation and it has a glass panel on one side, but, i did not thing it was as small as it really is, when i went to put my motherboard in, i thought it wouldnt fit because its so small, but my fat fingers were holding it back.)

Peripherals

Corsair K70 mech keyboard

Corsair M65 mouse

Asus MG248Q monitor

UPS (forgot the name)

i did not mean to get so many asus or corsair products it just happened lol

i am now in the process of getting all of the sleeved wires i want, its really annoying that the majority of the wires are basically three colors, red, blue, or black. i want green and purple. i also have two more fans on the way for the case just to have extra cooling, i really wanted to get an AIO cooler but was afraid that i would do something wrong and it would leak.

i have had the PC for about 2-3 weeks now and i am loving it so much. SO GLAD I LEFT CONSOLES.
