I have just recently gotten my first tower PC from iBuypower. It is the BB921. (here for BestBuy link ) I was thinking about getting another GTX 1060 but I have never had a tower PC and have no clue if my PC can even handle another GPU like this without updating other things. If I want more power, should I try updating my GTX 1060 to a GTX 1070/80? If a dual GPU system would be better, how would I go about updating it?  I am really just a noob who needs help. I have a few photos of my motherboard and current GPU if that would be useful.

EDIT: I have 3 1080p Monitors!

GPU intensive things I do: VR w/ HTC Vive and misc. other games.

(PS:I am also considering a 4k monitor)

Don't buy another 1060 sell the one you have and buy a 1070/1080.

Ok, thanks, I just saw an article somewhere that said a dual GPU system would be better for 4k Gaming.

You can't SLI 1060s, should have gotten a 480 for that, and also built your own PC, but I guess it's too late for all that

wait for the 1080ti or Vega to get into 4k gaming

You can not have 2 GTX 1060 in your build at all

If you want more power get a single 1070/1080, power requirements is not that much too compared to if you can (which you can not) put 2 cards

If you are looking at 4K you should look at 1080 at least

Technically you could do the crossfire type of thing through the motherboard trick, but it's not guaranteed.

Well the first issue you brought up about the adding a GPU, you probably either shouldent add another GPU or get another GTX 1060 if your power supply can handle it.

I looked at the link and couldnt find the wattage of the PSU so yeah.

(dont go 4k stick to 1080p)

2 8GB 480s OC'd would be faster than a 1080 in games that support crossfire, but a Vega GPU or 1080ti is a much better option

Mostly Vega because free-sync 4k displays are far cheaper than G-sync ones

The article was either wrong, or it was talking about a different graphics card because you can't even use more than one 1060. If you want to game in 4k with decent settings you should get a 1080.

it was talking about GPU's in general, not one single card, plus, IDK much about computer hardware, so I came to the forums for help.

In anyway the benefit of getting another 1060 is so small that you better off getting something else

Only if you're trying to run games across all 3 1080p displays which is almost 4k and don't want to buy a $600 GTX 1080, 2 480s are somewhere between 400-500

As for capture 4k gaming footage, good luck with that

I dunno about best buys return policy, but right now for that $1000 you could have gotten a Faster 6700K and larger SSD for about the same price, arguable better GPU

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MytB4C

But for what you want to do I would have said wait until the end of the month for Ryzen, which should end up better for the money for Video editing/game capture/streaming and all that stuff

Old video still pretty relevant
