Xbox one controller not working on pc

Hopefully someone can help me
My xbox one controller will connect to my pc fine but when it 'sleeps' after that when i try and reconnect it, it will connect then very shortly after disconnect till I restart my pc,  the usb doesn't seem to work either so cant use it wired, and dont really want to have to get a new controller, tried reinstalling drivers etc to no avail

Win 10 pro latest updates etc using the official wireless adapter

I had a similar issue, I had to unplug the adapter, then plug it back in and if I tried to reconnect the controller after that it worked fine

ill try that, i have a game (train sim) and if the controller is connected, then disconnects it pauses/ locks the game which is incredibly annoying)

yeah thats annoying. let me know if it works. I mean if not you can get one of the newer controllers and connect with bluetooth. I hear it works much better.

i dont have bluetooth, im kinda pissed the controller is worth next to nothing and ive spent £65 on the controller+ wireless adapter,

and it doesnt work

perhaps turn off all power management features for USB, selective suspend. There is a setting in control panel - advanced power plan settings. Also untick the box enabling devices to go to sleep on your usb controllers in device manager

changed them all, still doesnt work

I've all kinds of issues with mine. Generally, either replugging in the receiver works if not I have to plug the USB into the controller and it makes it connect, I could just be that the battery is low

Fresh batterys, i think the usb is broke(connector) as it doesnt respond to it being plugged in

Id try and grab another cable, aint it just a USB mini? theyre pretty common, I have a few lying around the house, PSP, PS4 etc

Yup for approximately 5 seconds till the controller disconnects

I had some issues with mine recently, but the fixes I mentioned worked. I guess its the XBOXO for windows with the included receiver? And Windows 10?

Oh! Make sure its a proper powered USB port, mine wouldn't work in some ports on my board

Its attached to a usb hub which was working before but now all of a sudden it doesn't

Try connecting directly to a USB2/3 port on the motherboard

it was working before but now isnt, i want to use wireless though

Sounds like your adapter is faulty. get it exchanged for a new one. Based on the issues you have described it sounds more like an adapter problem than the controller. There shouldn't be issues with the light turning on

got a new adapter, still have the same problem,

 

this is really frustrating
