I recently got a new computer and installed all my games and software and realised minecraft ran slow compared to other games like csgo a few others I am wondering if anyone knew why this is. I have a rx480 and a athlon x4 860 cpu(yes I know its trash I didn't do enough research before ordering parts). Is this because of a cpu bottleneck or is minecraft not well optimised for new hardware.

My old i3-550 gets over 120FPS on Minecraft with a random AMD 512MB GPU... Your CPU & GPU are stronger than mine so you should get a lot. What are your video settings/resolution?

I get around 100 fps with random fps drops I run at 1080p on default settings no fps cap(I think). I don't currently have my computer with me but I think that's it.

Check how much ram is being used and give it more ram if needed that tends to help also csgo and minecraft ARE COMPLETELY different cpu/gpu load wise

I did it only uses about 20% it say. and I know the loads are completely different just expected better from minecraft since it seems less hardware intensive.

RAM will not increase FPS; I tested with 4GB and 16GB. No increase.

you could also try optifine i find that gets alot of fps out of minecraft plus you can still join any server with it on

Optifine doesn't really help much anymore, plus his CPU and GPU are powerful enough to get more than 100FPS without it.

What's your CPU usage at when running Minecraft? Are you on a server with a lot of entities(mobs, players, armor stands, holograms, etc)? etc.

minecraft is way more think about the entire counter strike map is small so it can be fully preloaded vs minecraft which you constantly regenerate and rerender chunks of the map

ram will increase fps if your ram capped for example when im running mods it will it 20 gigs plus and if i don't give it that it doesn't tend to work very well

are you getting low fps or slow game? I get 144 fps solid all the time, but around some of my redstone machines the actual game ticks (updates) start slowing down noticeably. Running the server with a 3rd party program like @Alaradia mentioned might help.

Build: Intel S2600gz, 2x E5-2670, EVGA SC 1070, Zotac 1060 6GB mini, 48GB Micron 1333mhz ECC DDR3, 2x Intel DPS-750XB 750 watt PSU

I don't know exact usages but my cpu fan doesn't sound like its on to high and It happens on my survival worlds and on servers like hypixel.

If you're playing minecraft you're on a server. Local singleplayer just wraps the server in with the client.

I am getting random frame drops and I fell a ton of micro stuttering as if I had a dual gpu setup but I don't.

ram works great till you run out of it is my point

Minecraft does not use a lot of RAM. It uses less than one GB of RAM for me.

Hypixel's lobbies tend to drop my FPS down to around 30-60FPS. However, when playing one of their games like Skywars tend to boost my FPS up-to 120-150 while playing them.

What most people recommend around now:

  • Delete your .minecraft directory. Then re-install Minecraft.
  • If that doesn't work, factory re-install Windows; could be a corrupt install.

that could be it because I just remembered I had to switch to the beta launcher because the main launcher was really messed up an unusable but I though it was just the launcher(I don't remember if I reinstalled the launcher).

The beta launcher hasn't effected my FPS at all.
