Can't decide which laptop to buy for my needs

The Sager NP5855 also uses a TN panel. It's not likely to be a particularly great quality display either, since it seems that manufacturers stopped making good 1080p TN displays for laptops once IPS became mainstream. A few exceptions are 120Hz TN and 17.3" 1080p TN as I've noticed, none of which apply to the NP5855, so I think it's safe to say the NP5855 is worth avoiding as well.

I've seen the name of this laptop come up a few times in my searches for a laptop but I've never thought of it seriously since it's not a well known make so I guess I'm going to stay away from it anyway.

I noticed you have a dell xp in your profile picture, these laptops are seeming to be more popular than I thought.

Yup! I've got the 4K / 960M / 97Wh model. It's been great so far. The new one uses a GTX 1050, but the cheapest model (with the GPU) is $1200.

Can I ask about the temps of the laptop? What do you idle at? And what do you get when you're gaming or doing some heavy stuff? Heating and fan noise on laptops are a big issue for me so I'd like something that's quite while staying moderately cool.

I haven't checked any temps. Most intensive game I play is Overwatch. But notebookcheck would be a good source!

XPS15 in general has fine temps. The one issue that does exist is on some models there is no cooling for the dRAM due to manufactering issues. The fix is just to put a thermal pad, but yea. While you're putting the thermal pad, might as well repaste it with like Gelid or CLU or TGC

Yeah I don't think the issue with the razer blade is the razer blade itself but more the price that it costs. Linus dashed out like $28,000 for his whole team, I don't have that kind of money lol

So it's a £1500 laptop that requires me to fix the way the dRAM is cooled. Is there any way to tell which models this is on?

It's just a manufacturing error. I believe it's fixed in the Kaby Lake revision. It's not even that bad, I mean look at EVERY OTHER company and their high end laptops.
