Listen up folks I got a story to tell...

Yesterday, a friend of mine that's new to PC building, asked If we could swap CPU's since we both have an FM2/+ CPU in our PCs, and also he would give me 50€ to which I agreed since I'm kinda greedy :).

But here's the Deal, I told him to Update bis BIOS of his MSI A88X something something Motherboard, since I was giving him an Athlon X4 845 and so he did as I told him to.

His BIOS Version was 6.50 if anyone thinks he might have gotten the wrong version. (Carrizo support was included 2 BIOS Versions earlier.)

So the swap began, and because I couldn't help him (since he's living with his parents who think of me as the Satan himself) he had to do it himself.

Important note 1: He did neither unplug the PC from the wall, nor did he turn off the switch on the Psu when fiddeling around in his PC.

Important note 2: He was stabbing around in his CMOS battery with his Pocketknife (Not to Sure why though)

Now to the actual problem, he fires up the PC. Black Screen. No Signal. Fans spin, peripherals light Up. Yet, No Signal.

Reminder:

Testing via iGP, Not possible, since the X4 845 has no integrated graphics solution.

It's quite the read but thanks in advance anyways.

Can you un-swap CPUs to test for a bit?

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Sounds like he doesn't know of what he's doing and instead of replacing his motherboard he should buy a pre built

You think if he actually had money for a pre built, we would be swapping 60$ CPUs? :P

wow your friend must be retarded because everyone knows to unplug an electronic device while working on it. This is basic knowledge.

GG board is gone

Also who the fuck swaps cpus and give extra 50 bucks for an x4 845 to a friend. That´s his second stupid move.

Shhh I may or may not leave my stuff plugged in as well.

But at least turn off the PSU before doing something important.

Could have given more Context.

My friend used an X4 750K, I used a New X4 845. I was tired of the 845's performance and we originally agreed that I would buy it for hin and i would later sell it to him for a little cheaper. That's why 50 bucks. Since almost all of the components in his PC are mine (I built it for him originally), I took his old CPU back.
