Hello, I am a first time PC builder hoping to build a good price to performance PC for around $450-$500

here are the parts i have, with included PC part picker list and excel spreadsheet(very bottom)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WcNpNN note:I included custom prices for many of the components because I 'm buying many of them from amazon which gives you free shipping on all orders over $50 which PC part picker does not recognize and includes the shipping price.

Here are the parts:

mobo: ASRock Mini-ITX LGA1151 DDR4 H110-M

cpu:Intel Core i3 6100 3.7 GHz

gpu:Gigabyte radeon rx460 Windforce with 4gb of GDDR

memory:8GB DDR4 G-Skill Aegis

psu:EVGA 430W W1

storage:240gb silicon power SSD

case:VIVO "Smart" Micro ATX case (compatible with mini itx)

I was thinking of maybe swapping out the i3 6100 for a pentium g440 but it does have 0.5 GHz lower clock speed and doesn't have hyper threading so i am not sure about how that will affect performance.

I was also thinking of maybe swapping out the 4GB rx460 with a 2GB rx460 but i'm not sure.

Thanks For reading and feel free to leave any suggestions.

herman mcpootis

That build is pretty good overall and you did a very good job

i will probably integrate the processor, case, ram, psu, and maybe the video card.

i will probably stay with my original mobo because i need wifi with it.

thank you very much

if you need wifi, just get a pci-e adaptor for $30, no need to go mini-itx.

it'll look weird in pretty much every case other than itx cases and there won't be as many features in an m-atx/atx mobo. itx mobos are made for very small pcs, not for regular rigs.

Thats a good one!

But do add a normal HDD there, the SSD will run out of space in no time.

Micro ATX will typically give you more room for later expansion than a Mini ITX motherboard, sometimes for a lower price.  A Micro ATX board with 4 RAM slots can be easily found, allowing easier memory upgrades, and ITX can't support more than two unless it's designed for the smaller parts used in laptops.  Our case (the one in your original list) will fit either size, so you can of course use whichever board you would prefer.
