Location: Australia

Budget:1300-1400AUD

Aim for this build is to provide a good mate of mine with a  capable PORTABLE gaming rig he can use to play games at 1080p, including League of Legends and various AAA games. Hopefully allowing him to play games for at-least a couple of years.

My Current build for him:

No Monitor is needed nor are peripherals. He doesnt need much space as he only uses his hard drive space for the current games he plays and deletes what he doesn't.

Just wondering if this build is sufficient and if there is anyway of sheering the price down a little.

Intel i5-4670K, Asus Maximus VII (z97), 16gb Kingston, Asus Gtx 780, Fractal Design Define Mini, 250Gb Samsung Evo, Corsair CS650M

He probably doesn't need 3000mhz ram as it will be limited on that motherboard anyways. Also you could maybe get a cheaper h110 motherboard and a 6400 or a 6500. For gpu I would say go for an rx 480 4gb but I'm not sure what pricing is like where you are and this is a small formfactor factor build so smaller power draw is always nice. That being said it may be worth it to get the 6gb model.

If you really want it to last for years, you should consider a unlocked setup or you might run into CPU limits for gaming with clockspeed. Same goes for the 1060 3GB. Fine for now, but with growing demand on VRAM it is likely to run out relative soon in triple A titles. So the 1060 6GB or 480 4-8 GB is a better option then since 3 can be edgy for games with mods already.

You can indeed save money on the RAM with a lower speed like 2400 unless price would be similar.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

4GB vram minimum unless you want future games to lock settings away from you.

3gb gets populated easily at 1080p Ultra and even High settings in some games.

Imo 4gb vram or higher.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
