So my buddy recently bought my old pc and I upgraded, Leaving me with his old pc that I want to turn into a server with remote access storage for just us three to be able to access. We don't live in the same house and aren't on the same network so I need some way to run a remote access storage server and have the ability to grant access to whomever would like to store files in the server that we all can view/access/download. I'm very experienced with PC building and what not but server stuff I'm not so sure about. If anyone can give me a solid walkthrough/suggestions etc. that'd be awesome. Hope this is enough info to know what I mean. I'll also be using the server pc for hosting various game servers, not that i need the extra performance, that one is just aesthetic.

No reason to use windows server anyways, the features won't help you here.

Id use owncloud or ftp to share the files, depending on if you want a google drive like experence with owncloud and a web interface or a basic ftp system
