Hi people, I'm planning to build me an, almost, shiny new pc.
From all-black full tower cases, I'm moving my mind toward small, white, shoebox-like ones.

My initial budget lies around 800€ (already planning future upgrades);
I'll use it primarily for programming and web browsing, maybe some little gaming

here and there and planning to screen recording and twitch-streaming some (old) console gaming;
I'm gonna dual monitor, fhd, which I already have and also I'm reusing an Antec Edge 550,

2x Intel 535 120GB (in Raid 0) and an Evga GTX750 (not even Ti, my bad).

Here is the list:

  • CPU       - Intel i3 7350k
  • MB         - Asus ROG Strix Z270I
  • Case      - Fractal Design Node 304 white
  • RAM       - 16GB 3000MHz, not sure about 1x16gb or 2x8gb neither about brand (Corsair or Gskill ?)
  • Cooling  - looking for some C-shape, silent cooler, I was thinking about Noctua NH-C14S,
    NH-L12, NH-L9X65 (yeah, not so C-shaped, but it blows air down around the socket) or BeQuiet Shadow Rock LP.

Now, gentlemen, your advice will be greatly appreciated

Avoid the i3 7350K, it's not good value. Either get the i5 7600K or get the i5 7500 / i5 7600.

if you're gonna build itx then go big right away, itx builds can be a pain to upgrade later on so don't skimp out on parts. ITX builds are also normally more expensive than building a mid tower so you could actually get more performance for the same money.

 All of them cost more than the 7350K, the 7500 and 7600 are not overclockable and offer slightly less single/dual core performance.

So, I could slip in a 7600K but I have to consider cost and 50% more TDP

Keep in mind that you need the cooler for the i3 7350K (it's not included) and a more expensive Z170/Z270 board to overclock it, thus its more expensive by far compared to the i5 7500 and i5 7400.

And who cares if it offers less single core performance, it still struggles in some games against the i5,  a lot of games now rely on more than one core.

TDP won't be a problem, recent intel CPUs are already very efficient. Getting That i3 wouldn't really be a wise choice and I don't recommend it, it gets out performed by the cheaper i5 in some games.

I'm not gonna use stock cooler anyway, I want a cool and quiet one, that's why I was looking toward Noctua or BeQuiet.

Yes, the Strix Z270I is quite pricey, but afaik it's the only one to sport 2x m.2 slots.
Those Intel 535 will not stay there forever...

Yes, that's true but gaming will not be the main purpose for this build, I'll not go anywhere with that GTX750 and I'm not planning to replace it any time soon.

It will be if -and only if- I'll OC.

Not sure about it, maybe not right now, but in that eventuality cooling a (starting) 60W chip will be easier than a 90W one.
