What cpu to buy?

i'm building my first pc, and a friend wants to sell his AMD FX4300 for $40,-. Should i take te deal?(my first build is very cheap, so if i make a mistake it won't cost me a lot of money)

I'd say no. There is no upgrade path. How much is your budget for you new PC?

 

EDIT: I'd wait for Ryzen or get Skylake/KabyLake.

It's decent enough. You might get better, but eh.

The 4300 can still run crap like FO4 at decent enough framerates when oced.

We need your budget. You could get a 24 core xeon or a cleron. I would never pick up a 4300

Just build this. The 4300 will not be very good, no upgrade path and mediocre performance.

I think for basic gaming and stuff like that that cpu should be fine I wouldn't buy it myself I would buy a fx 6300 that would perform better. Or the intel variant is the Pentium g4560 which is only about $80 aus. But if I know your budget that would make it easier.
