I use Windows now but I was a Mac user for plenty of years. It works fine for most tasks but is heavily under-supported in terms of gaming. In certain workflows like development, a Unix environment can be a nice thing to have.

I guess we need you to narrow down what you want us to speak about. Generally MacOS is easy with many supported applications. Gaming is not something it does all that well. I have been using a Mac since about 2007, for games I use a. Windows PC.

Hey, just as a preface, I have a Macbook pro 13inch 2015, it was my first mac. Before then I always used windows. I am a student and I mostly do programming in C. Personally, going from Windows to Mac OS was great. Outside of some kinda specific instances I found that using my mac was a bit nicer than windows. When it came to programming and school work in general, Unix is a godsend and the terminal is a great thing to learn. I find that Mac OS is great for the most part. But as Linus said in his iSwitched series there are some quirks. Cutting and pasting isn't Command X then Command V, it's Command C all the time then Command Option V to move the file, similar to the unix mv command. Also multi-windows like in Windows or Linux just isn't as good. But most of the time Mac Os's great "desktops" implementation similar to Linux's workspaces is great and probably one of the greatest things about it. Honestly, outside of playing games I have had no reason to use windows nor have I been lacking something while using my mac that made me miss Windows. I'd say if you're decently competent with computers and watch a couple of videos, you should get used to OSX in a few days.

I may be buying a Macbook but I have almost never used Mac OS before. Anyone have it and what are your thoughts?

the core m3/m5/m7 MacBooks are shit. get a proper i5 or i7. there are good games available on steam but they get released on mac long after they are released for windows. software updates on apple hardware is painless compared to windows. all the applications i use are available natively. most tools you find on linux are available for mac. Safari sucks do not use it. Anything you find annoying in windows won't occur in mac except it has its own problems; you have to install a third party hack to maximise windows and you can't alt-tab out of a lot of full screen games.

The learning curve is quite steep, I've noticed.
