Memory dual channel operation question... Am I missing something?

Pulled this graphic out of one of my old motherboard manuals. Am I missing something or are 1,3,and 4 all identical?

The funny thing is that I'm not even sure if the first 2 are correct. This motherboard has two of the same color slots right beside each other... Not interspaced like they usually are...
