So my laptop is extremely potato and therefore cannot run most games. Therefore, because i'll be away from my desktop for the weekend with a lot of downtime I decided to install Half Life 1 and 2 from steam and was pleasantly surprised by how they ran (Although i shouldn't be, they're from the 90's) however i was bothered by the aspect ratio (A perfect square) and decided to change it accidentally screwing up the aspect ratio completely. Because i'm only 10 minutes into the game and really don't care about any lost data i ask one thing:

How do i delete all saved data?

I've re-installed the game multiple times now and made no progress.

(Better question: How do you delete save data from a steam backup?)20170127_225321.jpg

For Steam I believe you can just right-click the game in your library and select 'Delete Local Content'. That wipes the game from your system and resets everything in the games' settings.

I have tried that three times now and have gotten the same result.

Ah, well that is very strange. Can you navigate to your Steam folder manually and make sure everything was indeed deleted?

EDIT: Also I found this http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2470784&highlight=delete+cloud+files

the game save file is located in \SteamApps\common\Half-Life\Valve\Save\

To turn off cloud saves: right click on game in your steam library, hit properties, then go to the updates tab and un-check steam cloud synchronization near the bottom.

what exactly are you trying to fix by deleting the save though? the aspect ratio? you should just be able to do that in the options menu

My plan is to completely uninstall everything to reset all my settings, Problem is i can't acces the options menu because it's cut off.

put "-windowed" in the game launch options. then you should be able to change the options again.

you could also delete the config file and verify the game cache, i think that would do the same thing. make sure cloud sync is off though or it will redownload the bad config
