Not sure if this is the correct place to post this....

First, here are the specs of my new pc 10 lbs of crap in 5 lb bag

My Asus Hyper M.2 x4 Expansion arrived card today (installed Crucial M.2 1TB on it). Popped it in and no bueno! The motherboard won't recognize it. I tried all 3 slots.

because you have a SATA M.2 (crucial) and not a PCIe M.2 drive.

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboard-Accessory/HYPER_M2_X4_MINI_CARD/specifications/

1 x M.2 x4 Socket 3 with vertical M Key design, type 2230/2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support(Support PCIE SSD only)

you'll have to configure the SATA M.2 as that a SATA drive, not a PCIe drive.

I have the 2 950 Pros in RAID 0 and I had the other SSD (it's not an NVMe)

The expansion card is how I am using the 3rd.

Either way, the mobo does not see the card.

Probably because as Airdeano stated, the drive is a SATA drive and the HyperX4 doesn't support SATA M.2 disks.

Get a SATA M.2 to SATA 3 adapter

idk

That would make sense but you are trying to make the mx300 (which is a sata ssd in m.2 format not an nvme drive) a nvme drive.  Putting an nvme m.2 in a pci-e lane, if i am correct, would be fine, but putting a ssd nvme m.2 in an nvme expansion would not work (which is what i think you are trying to do). Also where are you putting the 950s?

🙂

Get a SATA M.2 to SATA 3 adapter

Try this again... the motherboard does not see the expansion card, never mind the SSD

yup, and allows a spot for another drive later. I don't want and 3.5 or 2.5 drives

The dual one can do two protocols. You cannot slap both of your 950 pros on it. That Asus adapter has a jumper setting on it, what does that label say?

My 950s are on the main board. It's an mATX that supports 2 in RAID

The jumper is so the card can be used with a daughter adapter card

Saw user reviews on it and it works on other boards too, not just Asus. You might have a faulty unit. Update your motherboard bios.

Even if your bios does not see it, can your OS setup see the drive?

Nope... checked that also. Moot point now, just requested a refund/defective. Bought the Twin Sata/NVMe card.

Unless you ran out of sata3 ports or ssd mounting spots, no reason to get a sata based M.2 drive. It only complicates things.

I'll have to disagree with that... M.2s are the future. One tenth the size and ten times faster. To each their own.
