HDD Dying?

AtsV6

Hello Linus' community!

I'm troubled by a problem which i presume is caused by my Hard drive (931GB Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162 (SATA)). Now to be honest I am very new to the entire computer hardware thingymajiggy (Built my first pc with 0 knowledge a few months ago just via Linus' tutorials.) so i am sorry if i say something very stupid.

Anyways, to make it short, my Hard drive write speed went to very low speeds in a matter of a few days, averaging at about 40-50kbps (and often at 0kbps) although my Disk Usage is at 100%. I am not finding a single fix or cause for this so maybe you could help me :)?

check to see if indexing is turned on. Find out what service is using so much disk.

Indeed, the HDD's SMART stats are pristine. I doubt the drive is failing. The drive also shouldn't really be at 100% very often either.

I suspect that Windows is doing something it shouldn't. You want to go into the Resource Monitor, and find out which exact program/task/service is using all that disk IO.
