I'm also stuck with 2 r9 290X after upgrading to a GTX 1080. But I'm in Singapore not US. :(

you could sell it, or if you have a big enough power supply you could use it for another monitor if you have one. thats what I do, I have a GTX 1060 and a GTX 960, one for each monitor.
