What Was The Size of Your 1st Mass Storage Device?

Just out of curiosity, what was the capacity of your first PC build's storage device? For mine, I had a 500gb HDD :)

My first mass memory was 5MB, and if I'm not mistaken, it was the MFM-disk. The price of the disc was approx. 52 000 Finnish marks (= approx. 6000USD) :D

It's crazy how affordable digital storage has gotten over even the past 10 years. I didn't even realize a 1 TB WD hard drive cost this low!

It's also crazy how easily a 1TB hard drive can be filled.

Very true. I'm sure all of us have hard drives that are full already that are that capacity or more. I guess that's a trend that will continue on

the first computer that was MY computer had an 800MB (ish Actual capacity) hard drive (33Mhz CPU with a PHYSICAL TURBO BUTTON that bumped it to 66, even had an LCD display showing the frequency), my second computer (first laptop) was a 1.4GB HDD (and a 133Mhz CPU that cost 2 grand when NEW), boy how things have changed, I have a 4TB NAS now and it's almost out of space .

In like 2 weeks? I plan on getting a 2TB LAPTOP drive for 109.99. Drive prices now are really nice.

Throwback to like 2-3 years ago when I bought a 120GB 840 EVO for a whopping 100 dollars. :/

I think on the first personal desktop I had (that my parents bought for the family) it was actually 2 GB. To think that 20 years later this "standard" size has been multiplied by 1000...

20MB in my Mac SE

Not only storage has grown a lot in the past 30 years.  The SE had an 8MHz Motorola CPU (single core with no hyperthreading, of course) and 1MB of RAM.

Compare that with today's multi-core 4GHz+ CPUs and all the gigabytes of RAM.
