Sata 2 Adequate with WD Red

Yep, it won't make any noticeable difference. Sata 3 is only useful for SSDs.

So building a NAS + Compute Server soon and looking at the ASrock Rack EP2C602-4L/D16 motherboard i seen it has 8 sata2.o and only 2 sata 3.0,

Wanted to double check that the WD Red 3TB drives wot be bottlenecked by sata2 With having 4 of them in raid 10 and after doing some napkin math i got:

Sata2 avg speed - 375MB/s

Sata3 avg speed - 750MB/s

So My thoughts are the red wont bottleneck too badly i guess if at all?

I believe WD Red drives support SATA-3 6.0Gbps so you may be getting some kind of bottleneck there.

Usb 2 drives support USB 3, doesn't mean they will get a speed boost out of it.
