So i've posted my problem before and I've done what people recommended. I was wondering why my fps was considerably worse than my friends even though most of our specs are the same. I've upgraded that shitty power suppl and bumped up my ram to 16gb. Didnt help. I dont know what to do. I've cleaned installed my nvidia drivers through geforce experience. I dont want to resort to reseting my pc.

My spec:

i7 6700k

EVGA 1070 SC

16gb corsair vengeance ram

Asus z170-A mobo

EVGA G3 850w psu

1TB HDD

His specs:

Same CPU

Same GPU

32gb corsair vengeance ram

Some atx gigabyte board

Carsair 750w

500GB Ssd ( i got this wrong in the other specs. He doesnt have 1tb)

1 tb hdd

What kind of "considerably worse" fps are we talking?

Maybe he has overclocked more than you?

Different game settings?

I mentioned in my other post that the games we played were warframe and warface because he just got the pc and didnt have the money for more right now. I get like 30 fps in warframe with it sometimes going into 50s. He gets well over 300 fps. He can keep v-sync on with no problems. In warface he got over 200 and if i remember it was around 250ish. I got around 90-110fps.

He does have 3200 ram speeds and i have 2400 but that shouldnt keep me from achieving that fps. He has more than double and you say its ram? Quality settings are same. Hes using a 4k tv for now and im using a monitor both at 60hz.

Did you ever set up an on screen hardware monitor?

Something like MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner (disable the 60 fps lock) to see if something specific is bottlenecking your computer. This will help narrow the problem down a lot easier

I didnt know anything like that existed. I also want to say in my previous post i did a valley benchmark and my score was a bit better than other peoples benchmarks on youtube. same with cinebench.

I recall the benchmarks you ran gave fine results. What exact game are you seeing this lower fps in again? Are you sure that your friend has the same settings in game as you? Do you see lower fps in all of your games?

Apparently on CPU intensive games, it makes a noticeable difference.

I honestly dont know if i have lower framerate in other games because we havent played very many. I want to test more but I dont want him to download games that he doesnt want to. We mostly play warframe and There is always a difference in framrate. I cant get over 200fps in liset (ship). Ive contacted Warframe support but they cant figure out the issue. Ive played division and on ultra settings get over 60 fps. 90 fps in some situation. I dont think i get a constant 60 fps in watch dogs 2 on ultra settings. After upgrading from my 960 i could run it better but i think that was due to haveing higher vram. And yes my friend is actually running higher quality settings in warframe. He has nvidia pysx on in warframe while i have it off. Ive turned off a few that apparently improve performance. I turned that game down to low and it ran worse.

what about background applications? comparitively, how many does he have running vs. what you have running. compare each other's processes.

I dont think thats an issue. I have malware bytes and razer synapse running in the background. He may have more. I tried disabling malware bytes for this issue didnt help.

Do you think i should try DDU instead of using geforce experience to clean install?

Yes yes and yes. Because it actually works.

Assuming youve done it but will i need to switch my hdmi to my mobo to redownload drivers then switch it back to hdmi on gpu? Or will it still have display drivers to work?

Windows has basic display drivers that work on all GPUs. It'll lower your resolution to like 800x600 but it'll work.

Thanks for the advice but sadly this didnt help. Any ideas as to what the problem may be? ways to find out? I really dont want to reset my pc to find out that it didnt fix it. I dont know if the bios for Asus does anything? I havent done much to bios and everything i did do i returned ti defualt. Tryed to overclock cpu but my pc crashed with a 4.5ghz. I assumed low ram or power supply was the problem.
