so in this video they said google was the clear winner but i got 3 netgear orbis for cheaper then the google wifi setup so im wondering if i need to upgrade? i get full bars everywhere in my house and even on the street.

Is that wifi speed? What you can try is plug your computer into the router directly through ethernet and if it is noticeably faster then you might want to upgrade

Then you don't need to upgrade.

Here is the thing, ethernet will always be equal or faster to wifi, at least at this point in tech it is not slower than wifi. So for Instance, if you were getting 100mbps down on ethernet then you would have some "headroom" to get faster speeds on wifi. It looks like the bottleneck that you are hitting is with your internet plan not with your router. Meaning upgrading routers won't make a difference.

 

An example would be like you cannot add a better faucet to your sink and expect it to then magically work like a fire hose, the same amount of water is coming out no matter if you upgrade your faucet. Hope that made sense lol. If you did have a faster internet plan then maybe you might see an improvement with upgrading your router but from what I remember from that video they were very similar in performance anyways.

time warner says in a "few months" there going to give me a "free" upgrade to 300mbps so would i still be fine there? also i did upgrade a faucet and it did not work like a fire hose D:

I would wait for that free upgrade before you buy anythIng new
